The London Roundhouse is a historical site in London, Ontario. The Roundhouse was originally constructed in 1887 as a repair shop for the Michigan Central Railroad. Less than 20 – 30 years after construction, the repair shop was no longer needed. A renovation project for the London Roundhouse was formally launched on October 1st, 2013 by Creative Property Development but it wasn’t until April 1st, 2015 that the London Roundhouse was open for business as office space and the first few companies began moving in. On Friday, June 24th, 2016, over a year after renovations were completed, the London Roundhouse was officially inducted into the North America Railway Hall of Fame. This induction into the hall of fame serves to recognize, honour, and preserve the extensive history of the building. The large arched windows were once massive doors to let locomotives through. The high ceilings and curvature of the building as a whole were designed to accommodate moving and working on the trains.
